What am I paying for, and when?
The package (£250 single-page, £500 multi-page)
covers a free mockup before you commit, a well-designed site,
revisions, and launch on your domain. Paid once when you
approve the direction.
After launch, hosting runs £20/mo (or £40/mo for
Hosting + care), billed monthly from the day your site goes
live. You won't pay for hosting until your site is actually
running.
Why you, not Wix or an agency?
I do it all myself: build, host, fix. No agency behind the
curtain, no junior outsourced to a cheaper timezone, no
handoff. The person messaging you is the person writing the
code.
Versus Wix or Squarespace: if you've got a weekend spare, a
design eye, and patience for drag-and-drop, they can work.
Most local business owners don't have all three. You get
someone who builds websites for a living doing the work, a
site that loads faster and looks less generic than a template,
and something you actually own. If you ever want to leave,
I'll hand you the files. Try that with Wix.
How does it work, start to finish?
The free mockup shows you the direction first. For a
single-page site, it's the whole thing; for a multi-page
site, it's the home page in full, which sets typography and
style for the rest. If you don't like the direction, we part
ways with no charge.
Timing: single-page takes about a week from kickoff call to
launch (mockup in two business days, then revisions, then
live). Multi-page is about two weeks, since there's more
scope and two revision rounds included.
Do I own the site?
Yes, fully. Hosting with me is optional, not required. If you'd
rather host somewhere else (either from day one, or later on),
I'll hand you a zip of the files so your next developer can
take over. I can quote a migration separately if you'd rather I
handle moving it for you.
Will Google find my site?
The site ships with clean, search-friendly markup, fast load times,
a mobile layout, and the structured data Google looks for. That
gets you on the starting line. Appearing high for searches in your
area is a longer game that depends on your Google Business Profile,
reviews, and the copy on your page. I'll set up the fundamentals
at launch and flag anything obvious that would help.
What about the domain name?
If you don't own one yet, I'll sort it: we'll pick a name
together, I'll register it, point it at your site, and bill you
for the registration and annual renewal (typically £10 to
£15 a year for a .co.uk or .com). If you ever want to
take it into your own account, just say so and I'll help
transfer it.
If you already own one (GoDaddy, 123-reg, Namecheap, or
anywhere), I can point it at your new site at launch, or send
you the step-by-step instructions if you'd rather do it
yourself.
